Microdosing

What is microdosing?

Microdosing is the practice of regularly taking tiny doses of a psychedelic, in our case psilocybin, with the aim of improving your wellbeing.

Is microdosing legal?

Psilocybin truffles are 100% legal in the Netherlands where Mabel is based and can be shipped to any EU country under the Mutual Recognition of Goods Act.

This EU law allows legal importation from one member state to another, regardless of legality in the importing country. However each country have their own interpretation of this rule. We advise you to make your own informed decision.

What is psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a psychotropic molecule found in about 200 different fungus.

What are the benefits of microdosing?

Microdosing psilocybin has been reported to improve mood, increase energy, boost creativity, relieve discomfort during menstrual periods, kick-start a healthier lifestyle, and reduce anxiety and stress. And that’s just scratching the surface.

What is the feeling of microdosing?

You should not really be able to tell that you have microdosed, in fact the feeling should be sub-perceptual. Some describe a slight surge of energy or warmth in their body, but mostly you cant really detect it.

Will I feel influenced?

No. If you follow the advised dose you will not feel influenced.

Can I go to work after I microdose?

Yes absolutely, Mabel’s Mindful Microdosing is created to help you optimize your normal day and life, not take you away from it. In fact one of the most reported benefits of microdosing is increased creativity, focus and concentration.

Can I microdose and work out?

Yes, microdosing is actually a great way to tap into more resourcefulness, better engagement and attention towards your work out. It is also know to boost and maintain a desire for a healthy lifestyle an therefore a great tool to help keeping motivation up if you have new work out goals.

Can I microdose while driving?

Yes, you can drive while microdosing. However we recommend that you don't drive the first time you microdose. Also keep in mind that microdosing is a psychotropic substance and if you feel different you might not want to get behind the wheel. Always make mindful choices. 

Is it safe to mix alcohol with Mabel's microdosing?

Yes, you can drink alcohol and microdose at the same time, however alcohol can decrease the effectiveness of the psilocybin truffles but microdosing and alcohol will not create a bad effect.

Can microdosing help me reduce my alcohol consumption?

If you are drinking to increase your self confidence microdosing can help you achieve the same feeling but without alcohol and it will not leave you with a hungover the next day. Read more here.

Can microdosing help with my hormonal imbalance or menstrual cycle?

Currently there are several ongoing studies on microdosing and hormonal health but initial feedback, anecdotal evidence and presumption is that it can help: regulate irregular periods, restart absent periods, decrease cramping and pain, decrease mood swings, decrease hot flashes and much more.

Does microdosing effect my ability to take care of my children?

No, you can absolutely take care of your children while microdosing. In fact one of the fastest growing demographics swearing by this practice are mothers. They report having more joy being with their children, feeling less pressure and having more energy in their roles as mothers.

Can I microdose while I am pregnant?

There is not enough data on this topic and we do not advise practicing this.

Can I microdose while I nurse?

There is not enough data on this question today, and even though some communities are practicing this we do not feel comfortable with recommending this yet. We advise caution.

Can I become addicted to microdosing?

Psilocybin is a non-addictive substance. Despite having powerful effects on the body and mind, there is no craving or withdrawal with microdosing.

Can microdosing improve my sex life?

Yes, microdosing can improve your sex life and relationship to your own body. By reducing stress and performance-related anxiety many couples experience an elevated sexual desire, increased exploration, better communication and enhanced sensory feelings when practicing microdosing. Read more here.

Can people tell that I have microdosed?

No, if you ask if they think you are high or under influence then no! If you ask if they will slowly begin to perceive a new more happy and secure you than yes, absolutely.

Can I microdose and be on antidepressants?

We do not recommend taking it in conjunction with antidepressants without consulting with your doctor first. That being said, more and more studies are showing the incredible potential of psilocybin to treat depression.

Can I microdose while taking medicine?

We always recommend that you start microdosing in a period where you are not taking any other medications such as antibiotics and cortisol.

Will microdosing help me with my ADHD?

There’s no clinical proof yer of the medicinal effect of psychedelics, however multiple experts claim that microdosing can indeed be highly beneficial for people diagnosed with ADHD or ADD.

What are the possible downsides of microdosing?

Dr. James Fadiman and Sophia Korb analyzed more than 1850 reports for their published paper “Might Microdosing Psychedelics Be Safe and Beneficial? An Initial Exploration”, the largest in the world. 75 people (less than 4%) expressed having a non positive experience with microdosing.

The non positive effects included:
• Fatigue – this can arise as you become more in-tune to your psychical needs (accumulated tiredness) or it can be a reaction to underlying and unconscious emotional traumas.

• Tolerance build up (you feel you need a bigger dose of microdosing to get the same benefits) – again, remember that you are not supposed to actually feel the dose, however tolerance build up is a real thing which is why we recommend you take. two weeks break every six week.

• Changes to consciousness and perceptions can be challenging for some, one these new found insights might be at odds with the life you are leading. This is why we work on values and realignment in the Mindful Microdosing program so you are set up and prepared to work with these supplements in a beneficial way.

• Other reported side effects include nausea, headaches, or increased anxiety.

Can microdosing help my anxiety or depression?

Microdosing and psilocybin is being studied for their potential to treat anxiety and depression. However it is important to recognise that microdosing is not a magic bullet! It's an incredible tool that together with a mindful approach and guidance such as our Mindful Microdosing Program will help you understand yourself on a much deeper level and through that will be able to make the changes in your life in order to feel better.

Will microdosing help me with burnout?

Microdosing can help address burnout, but rather than serving as a quick fix, microdosing fosters greater mindfulness, respect, and love for your body and mental health, gradually empowering you to reorganize your life.

I don't feel my microdose is working

Microdosing is a personal practice. Once you begin, regardless of the way it makes you feel, your mind and body is working with the truffles. However, you might need to adjust your dose. Read more here.

Can I take other supplements with microdosing?

Yes, you can take all classic supplements together with Microdosing. For a complete experience and in order to support our Mindfull Microdose supplements we have developed a proprietary two Step Functional Mushrooms protocol that supports hormonal health, sleep regulation and increases energy.

Who should not microdose?

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding

• If you suffer from mental health disorder:
If you suffer from a history of mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or any other severe mental illness you should avoid psilocybin. The psychedelic effects of psilocybin can potentially exacerbate symptoms or lead to unpredictable reactions.

• If you have feelings of deep depression:
If you are currently experiencing deep depressive feelings or are in a vulnerable emotional state, it’s advisable to refrain from psilocybin use. While psilocybin has shown promise in treating depression, its effects can be intense, and the experience may not be appropriate during a period of emotional vulnerability.

• If you have any underlying cardiovascular conditions

• If you use:
- MAOI's
- Lithium
- Valproic acid
- Haloperidol
- Use the plant St John's Wort

How long should I microdose?

We recommend a 5.5-month cycle consisting of three 6-week cycles, with microdosing every second day. Between each 6-week cycle, take a two-week break to allow your body to reset its psilocybin levels for the next cycle.

Generally, those seeking creativity boosts find one cycle per year enough, while women microdosing for anxiety, trauma, or hormonal health tend to prefer year long cycles.

Is microdosing safe?

Microdosing is a safe practice, but it may be illegal in some places. It is important to be aware of the laws in your specific location and avoid any illegal activities. It is recommended to microdose for no more than two months at a time.

It is important to note that microdosing does not have the same risks as taking larger doses of psychedelics, such as experiencing a “bad trip” or intense psychedelic effects. Microdosing is a safe and effective way to experiment with psychedelics in a comfortable and controlled environment.

Can I microdose as a professional athlete?

Absolutely. None of our mushrooms are on the World Anti Doping list. However, some sports may have rules against the use of psilocybin for health or safety reasons.

How do I take my truffles?

You swallow your truffles with a glass of water, just like you do with your vitamins. Preferably in the morning on an empty stomach.

How often should I microdose?

At Mabel we want to keep your protocol as simple and easy to follow as possible. Therefore we suggest dosing every other day. This means that you dose on day 1, take a break on day two (integration) and dose again on day 3. Follow this protocol for a duration of 5 weeks, until you have finished your supplements.

When should I listen to my classes if I am on the Mindful Microdosing Program?

We suggest you listen to the introduction and the first class on the first week, and hereafter take one class per week. You can also decide to work on a class for longer than one week and go back to revisit previous classes as often as you need.

I am uncertain about the right dose size for me

You can start by taking ½ a dose to slowly feel the effect. A full dose (one sheet consists of six doses) will be right for most. However, it can differ from person to person so slowly figure out what is the right dose for you.

Are functional mushrooms psychedelic?

No, even though we find them magic they cannot take you on a trip but they might save you a few trips to your doctor.

What does functional mushrooms mean?

Functional mushrooms are mushrooms that benefit your health beyond their nutritional value. The exact benefits you will get depends on the species of mushroom used and the quality of the product such as extraction methods, and provenance. Check out what set's Mabel's functional mushrooms apart.

What are adaptogenic mushrooms?

Adaptogenic mushrooms are incredible beneficial for women. They can mitigate the effects of stress on the body, enhance resistance to physical, biological, and chemical stressor and combat stress-related damage. They work by influencing key hormones like cortisol and serotonin and balance the immune systems.

How fast will I feel the benefits of functional mushrooms?

After a few days some subtle effects can be noticed, but the full benefits are experienced when taken on a daily basis for at least a few weeks. Remember these work with your body, they should be considered your long term preventative partner and first aid response workers.

Why don't you mix all the mushrooms together like other brands?

Mushroom benefits are unique, some are stimulating, some calming, some warming, some cooling, some moistening, and some drying! Blending these together sends mixed signals to your body. It's counter productive.
